I love Karin Miller's work, not just because it's a little edgy or avant garde but because it's art that has meaning. Each piece has a message about South African history or society and even if the message is serious, the artwork bounces between words like inspiring, humorous or simply beautiful. Take a look.

Kamers vol Geskenke or "Rooms full of presents" is a market that happens once a year and it has become a creative goods and food landmark in Cape Town [apparently soon to be in Gauteng as well]. It's full of wonderful and unique suppliers and is a very inspring affair - a true joy for the senses and certainly worth the visit. It's great for Christmas shopping so diarise for next year!! I popped in yesterday and took a few pics [quite a few actually!]. For more information and cool pics go to their site. Otherwise enjoy the beauties below :).

I do not normally have an addictive personality but I have to admit..I am addicted to Pinterest. It's a super cool idea where you can 'pin' images from the web or your computer on 'boards' for projects. It's great for planning or showcasing cool stuff you find. Actually when I first started using it, I got a little nostalgic because as a teen I had a felt pin board up in my bedroom at home for stuff I liked. This is the same thing, just virtual and people can see what you do and re-pin it and you can see their pins and repin them. An added bonus is that it all makes you feel good and is great for inspiration. Check it out. You have to request an invite... but do it, it's worth it.

I love blogs..they are jammed packed with great stuff and are generally so much more authentic than main stream product/brand sites. I recently came across another great blog, A Beautiful Mess which is the blog of Elsie Larson, a fashion designer. I will not do it justice by attempting a description here, other than to say she provides so fantastic tips and suggestions for a variety of things, not just fashion. I have included a few images from the blog that may help you see the style but the best way for you to appreciate Elsie's greatness is to check it out yourself here. She is on trend.

Lindiwe Suttle has one huge voice. A woman of the world to some degree in that she is South African but has lived and worked in many countries, a fact that has clearly influenced her music, which is considered AVANT-GARDE POP - a genre blurring style with influences from electronic dance, rock-n-roll and soul music. I really enjoyed this sample video of her song Man Made Moon as it cleverly showcases other South African talent beside her own. Clearly a lover of all things fashion, this approach seems to be a natural fit for her. Let the music speak for itself - it's fantastic. Check out the video below:

Look at this camera! It's super cool. According to the manufacturers it is 'unlike a conventional camera that captures a single plane of light, the Lytro camera captures the entire light field, which is all the light traveling in every direction in every point in space.' The thing I like the most is its simplicity, one button press and voila. I loaded a video on my Facebook page if you are interested in a more in-depth review. The 8GB will set you back $399, but you will have to buy it in the US for now...no global deliveries just yet. To have a more in depth look go to their site. Robert Scoble

When looking at Marc Laroche's Flickr photostream called Hair the word that popped to my mind was freedom. Besides that being one of my favourite words, this series of images manages to catch that feeling. I loved it. Go and check it out.

Besides all the interesting stuff she adds to her blog...lots of it very helpful... she also sells some fab product - what a bonus! All proudly South African and very, very cool. Check it out below....and follow the blog :) its fantastic.
I posted something in August about this but this video just shows how powerful this sort of approach can be. Thanks to Kirsty for sending it to me :). Worth the watch!

I was lucky enough to come across a link on Facebook posted by one of my friends Catherine regarding Veggie Trade. Started by a clever man Arthur Brigg, it allows you to learn and share your experience of growing and trading veggies from your own garden with people in your area! How's that for clever, talk about going back to our roots! I have always wanted to get my hands dirty and understand how not to kill veggies and this site gives me the chance to learn, share, trade, engage my community and hopefully laugh whilst doing it. It's still early days as they have just launched the concept and are still adding information, but I can tell you this has massive potential, especially in the midst of a recession. So register, you dont have to have a big garden either....
A few clips from their website below:here.

Missing Links' new office is the best 'office' environment I have EVER seen. It's a perfect interpretation of my perception of their brand and it's culture. Rich Mulholland is not the sort of guy you forget easily and neither is his office! Incase you didn't know, Missing Link are Presentation strategists that live by what they produce. I have not been to the Google or Apple offices, and I hear they are awesome...but really, can you get more awesome [and uncorporate] than this [and it's local!]!? Gotta love it...
